DALLAS -- Snow and rain snarled holiday traffic at major airports from Chicago to New York Wednesday as travelers struggled to reach Thanksgiving destinations. Delays ranged from more than 3 hours at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago to more than 1 hour at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Ga., and La Guardia Airport in New York, CNN reported.
A snowstorm dumped up to 5 inches in the Kansas City, Mo., area, creating hazardous driving conditions and doubling the time it took holiday travelers to reach the city's airport.
An estimated 37.2 million people were traveling by air, train, bus and their own vehicles for the holiday weekend, the American Automobile Association said.
Amtrak operated 60 extra trains between Washington and Boston to handle the additional crowds during the railroad's busiest time of the year.
Greyhound reported walk-up ticket demand was "pretty strong" early Wednesday, officials said. The bus line carried more more than 700,000 people last year on the holiday weekend.
