NEW DELHI -- Pakistan's prime minister arrived in New Delhi Tuesday for talks expected to be dominated by Kashmir and the Iran-Pakistan-India natural gas pipeline.
Officially Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is making the two-day visit as chairman of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation and to invite his Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh, to the association's summit in Dhaka, Bangladesh, early next year, The Times of India reported Tuesday. Aziz has been visiting the various countries in the region to prepare for the summit.
Aziz is also scheduled to call on Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Prior to the visit, both sides announced measures to create a positive atmosphere for the talks, which are being viewed with interest not only in the subcontinent but also across the world.
India's minister of external affairs, meanwhile, contended that the India-Pakistan peace process would take time and advised Pakistan to be patient on the question of resolving the Kashmir issue.
"It is an old question. It is not possible that results will come in a day or two," Natwar Singh said in New Delhi Sunday.
