JERUSALEM -- The Iranian Revolutionary Guards reportedly took part in the Lebanon launch of a Hezbollah drone that flew several minutes over northern Israel. The Ha'aretz news agency reported Monday the drone might have carried a camera capable of transmitting images during its weekend flight.
Some in Israel consider the Iranian activity a case of aggression against Israel, however, what makes it unusual is that Iranian support for Palestinian terror groups has been usually done with money or weapons, not with direct involvement, Ha'aretz said.
The drone was believed to have been developed and built in Iran during the 1990s, the news agency said. It is considered technologically very simple, with a pre-programmed route that is installed before launch and the ability to land by parachute, Ha'aretz said.
