BEIJING -- China's foreign ministry rejected reports from Japan Tuesday saying China had prepared three separate plans for armed conflict with Japan.
Spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue responded to a Japanese agency's question by saying, "We have already noted them and are severely concerned."
"As to what basis such reports are based on, I think you need to ask the Japanese side why they are sending these kind of signals," Zhang said
"They are completely unfounded and completely unreasonable."
Zhang said Chinese development and growth will not threaten any other country and rejects efforts to play up the "China Threat."
She said she hopes "responsible authorities will discard their cold war mentality and take relevant measures to promote peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large."
