PARIS -- Yasser Arafat died early Thursday in a Paris hospital, at age 75. The longtime Palestinian leader relentlessly dedicated to the creation of an independent Palestinian state, who was called a terrorist and a diplomat and who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, was considered an enigma, a mystery man in the forever smoldering Middle East.
