NEW YORK -- Oil prices continued to struggle Monday as New York crude fell more than $1 to slightly more than $50 per barrel.
Rumblings of a planned strike by oil workers in Nigeria failed to curb the bearishness brought on by an apparent easing of concerns about the winter heating-oil supply.
December NYMEX crude settled $1.63 lower on the day at $50.13 per barrel after briefly slipping into the $49 range.
December heating oil dropped 5.6 cents to $1.407 per gallon.
December gasoline lost 3.7 cents on NYMEX and settled at $1.291 per gallon. Retail prices held steady Monday around $2.03 nationwide, according to the Automobile Association of America.
