NEW YORK -- The New York Stock Exchange said Friday a full membership seat on the exchange sold for $1,035,000, down $15,000 from the previous sale on Oct. 25.
The transaction left seat prices down nearly 61 percent from their all-time high of $2.65 million, which was reached in August 1999 amid the late 1990s bull market in stocks, and off 23.3 percent from where they stood a year ago.
Friday's sale left seat values at their lowest since 1995, when Big Board memberships sold for as much as $1.05 million and for as little as $785,000.
A full membership on the Big Board confer the right to buy and sell stocks at the exchange. There are 1,366 seats at the Big Board.
